Supplementary handicap benefit

If the injury or the illness sustained by the employee reduces him or her to such state of helplessness that he or she cannot manage without another person´s help or if a severe injury or illness otherwise causes him orher exceptional difficulties he or she may be granted a supplementary handicap benefit. The supplementary handicap benefit is divided into three different classes of compensation and is paid for as long as the criteria stated are fulfilled. The supplementary handicap benefit is, however, not paid for a period during which the injured person is treated in a hospital or other institution.  

The biggest supplementary handicap benefit is granted to an injured, who due to the injury or the illness daily needs continuous and time-consuming care, help, supervision or guidance. The middle supplementary handicap benefit is granted if an injured, who daily needs care, help, supervision or guidance. The smallest supplementary handicap benefit is granted if an injured needs regular care, help, supervision or guidance.

Clothing allowance

A clothing allowance may be paid to an employee, whose clothes suffer extra wear and tear because of an artificial limb or other bandages.

Increased clothing allowance

Increased clothing allowance is granted to an employee, who is double amputated or uses an artificial limb or some other means of assistance and whose clothes suffer extremely unusual wear and tear.

Guide dog allowance

A guide dog allowance is granted as an additional compensation when needed as a consequence of injury or illness.  

Compensation for additional home care costs

Legitimate compensation for additional home care costs due to an injury or illness is granted over a maximum period of one year after the injury.  

Justified and necessary costs for examination

In addition to the above mentioned compensations justified and necessary costs for examination needed to analyze whether the symptoms are caused by an accident or occupational disease or not are compensated.
