As the insurance taker or claims applicant you have different options for getting a decision from us altered. Here you find instructions for applying for change. Always check carefully the instructions in the request for change that is attached to the insurance company’s decision.
If you as insurance taker or claims applicant suspect an error in your decision of compensation or another decision from Alandia Insurance (the insurance company) you have the right to get more information about the circumstances that have led to the decision. In this case Alandia Insurance (the insurancy company) is liable to correct the decision, if new investigations give cause for this.
If you as insurance taker or claims applicant are dissatisfied with the insurance company’s decision you can ask for advice and counselling from FINE:s Insurance and Financial Counselling, www.fine.fi or +358-9-685 01 20. The bureau is there to advice and help consumers, owners of small businesses and similar customers in issues concering e.g. the insurance business. The magistrates consumer counselling also gives counselling and help with mediation in controversies free of charge, www.konsumentrådgivning.fi, tel. +358-29-553-6902.
FINE’s and Boards’ recommendations about decisions
FINE’s Insurance and Financial Counselling and the Insurance Board the acts in connection to FINE’s Insurance and Financial Counselling and the Consumer Disagreement Board also give recommendations about the insurance company’s decisions concerning voluntary insurances. All these authorities are there for giving recommendations on settling of disputes about interpretation and application of legislation and insurance terms in insurance relations. NB: FINE does not handle disputes that are filed at or have been handled by the Consumer Disagreement Board or a court of law. Before the issue is handled by the Consumer Disagreement Board you first have to be in contact with the magistrate’s counselling for consumers.

Counselling service and recommendations from FINE and boards is given free of charge
For issues concerning statutory insurances there are separate boards that handle the customers’ appeal issues.
If you are not satisfied with your decision of compensation concerning a yacht claim you can transfer the issue for settling at Finland’s Average Adjuster. NB: An issue to the Average Adjuster must always be made before handling in a court of law.
As an insurance taker or claims applicant you also have the possibility to sue the insurance company if you are not satisfied with its decision. The summons can be served at a district court either at the party’s home location in Finland or at the insurance company’s home location or at the location of the claim, unless Finland’s international agreements state otherwise, within three years from when you receive a decision in writing from us.
